Serving Seniors - Bursaries
Each year the Serving Seniors Alliance awards two bursaries to those who demonstrate special support to our seniors' communities. The bursaries, in the amount of $250 each, are granted to non-profit organizations, charities, community groups or individuals who provide services directly to seniors.

2010 Bursaries
The winners were Friends of Ivy Meadows Residents Society and the Lake Loon Cherry Brook Senior Citizens Group.
The Friends of Ivy Meadows Residents Society will put their funds towards a replacement bus to use for outings.
The Lake Loon Cherry Brook Senior Citizens Group will use their funds to enhance their recreation program.

2009 Bursaries
The winners were Dartmouth Seniors Service Centre and the Hospice Society of Greater Halifax.
The Hospice Society of Greater Halifax sponsors a bereavement program for seniors which includes support groups, education along with literature. The bursary will be put toward offsetting their printing expenses, room rental fees, and training fees for volunteers who run the bereavement program.
Dartmouth Seniors Service Centre's Meals on Wheels program, where the bursary will be used for supplies for the meals on wheels & lunch programs.

Congratulations to our winners, and thank you to all our applicants - our bursary committee had a difficult decision to make with so many worthy nominees.
